The unusual combination of mild winters and moderate summers and low year-round humidity make Truth or Consequences and Sierra County the best of all possible places to live.
There are no polluting industries in Sierra County, the skies are bright blue and the stars are bigger and brighter than anywhere else in the country!
December is the "cold" month, but the average high temperature in that month is 53 degrees, with sunshine, and in the dark of the night it might drop to 27 degrees.
July is the "hot" month, with an average high of 92 degrees and lows in the lower 60s.
The highest point in the county is over 10,000 feet and located in the Black Range Mountains.
Average rainfall is 10-12 inches per year.
The area experiences four mild seasons. The sun shines more than 80% of the daylight hours. Elephant Butte is 4,674 feet above sea level.

Humidity is 10-15%. The highest humidity occurs in July and August as a result of seasonal thunderstorms. Snow, if it occurs, generally melts within 24 hours.
